Paper.  A blank canvas. It needs a creative soul to transform it into a riveting novel or collectable piece of art.   Laura sees hair in the same way and has assembled a group of independent stylists with the same vision. She laughs about the irony of the art studio a few doors down being named Hair and Nails and is excited to be part of the locally known “Witch District”.

Laura brings a background that includes teaching new stylists and participation in New York’s Fashion week. Starting Paper seemed the next logical step. After 17 years doing hair in South Minneapolis, she was ready to start her own business. When the space just down her block opened up, she knew it was the right time. Starting Paper was the next logical step.

Paper opened just a few weeks ago in the former Shear Arts location, but you won’t mistake it for the same salon.  Laura and her partner completely revamped the space even donning knee pads and face masks to refinish the floors.  The result?  It’s light and airy with high ceilings and a fresh look.  It feels like walking into a contemporary living room from an advertisement.   Paper has no receptionist, but the waiting area has a self-service beverage station and plenty of space to hang out while you wait.  She’s currently working on filling the front window with a succulent garden which adds to the aesthetic as well.

Paper’s product line is Davines. They are an Italian company that focuses on natural, organic and sustainable hair products that are quite popular on the east coast.   Appointment booking is best done on line through the website. If you are a stylist and want to work right in Corcoran, there is still a chair available.   The next time you pass by Paper, pop in, say “hi” to your neighbor and congratulate our newest local business owner or attend the Grand Opening on October 13th, 6-9pm. As always, all neighbors are welcome!
