MayDay 2019 Community Meetings
February 5, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am
All are welcome to two community meetings to deepen the theme
for the 45th Mayday Parade and Ceremony: “BELOVED COMMUNITY”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke of “the beloved community” not as a sentimental utopian goal, but rather as living committed to active nonviolence and inclusive economic and cultural wellbeing— where all are embraced with power wedded to love.
Help us envision this year’s theme as we honor and challenge ourselves as a community in THIS time and in THIS place. What does “beloved community” mean to YOU, to our neighborhood, to your organization, and even to the ground on which we stand?
The FIRST meeting, on February 5th from 7- 9:00pm, invites attendees to share ideas into the theme of BELOVED COMMUNITY.
For the SECOND meeting, on March 19 from 7- 9:00 pm, the Mayday artistic staff proposes an outline of image progressions garnered from ideas from the first community meeting. Attendees then give feedback—asking questions, offering ideas, and helping network further possibilities.
ALL ARE WELCOME! We need your insights!
